We'll do our best

Now its approximately two weeks until the Champions league will start again but the four gait will be held at Fákasel, 28th of january. We decide to talk to Viðar Ingólfsson and see how the preparation is going. Viðar is the team leader in Top Reiter/Sólning and he is also one of the riders who has been a part of the league for the longest time.

“The preparation is going fine but there is considerable work to do before this kind of competition. I’m looking forward to the four gait, I have two young, 6 year old, horses that I am aiming to compete on in the league this season,” says Viðar but he thinks his team will do a good job in the four gait. “Jakob, Matthías and Teitur all have good horses and could rank high in this competition. We haven’t decided yet who will compete but that will become clearer in the next days.

The Top Reiter team has been really successful these past years but they have won the team cup three years in a row, 2012, 2013 and 2014. They were also selected as the most fun team in 2013 and 2014. “We are going to do our best to win the team cup again. There is no question about it,” says Viðar but the team is now in 6th place with 63,5 point.

The champions league has transformed a lot over the years and Viðar is happy to see how the league is developing. “The framework around the league is always getting better and better. The competition is always getting stronger, but not so long ago maybe 7 - 10 years there was maybe four to five riders competing for the win but now the competition is more even and anyone can end up as the champion,” says Viðar.
