No changes made on the team

The last team we are going to introduce is the team Lýsi but it’s the oldest team in the league and it won the team cup in 2011 and 2015. Oddhóll and Þjóðólfshagi joined the team in 2015 so now it’s called Lýsi / Oddhóll / Þjóðólfshagi. The team made no changes this year so team members are Sigurður Sigurðarsson, team leader, Konráð Valur Sveinsson, Sigurbjörn Bárðarson, Lena Zielinski and Elvar Þormarsson.

Sigurður Sigurðarson, team leader, trains horses at Þjóðólfshagi. He was the first one to win the individual competition in 2001 and won it again in 2011. He has been in the national team many times, he has won multiple icelandic championships title, world championship title and once hold the world record in 100m. Pace. Sigurður was elected the gæðinga rider of the year in 2012.

Elvar Þormarsson works at Strandárhjáleiga near Hvolsvöllur in the south of Iceland. Elvar has gotten good results both at the breeding and competition track. At Landsmót this summer he did great things, he ended in fourth place in A class on Undrun frá Velli and also he rode Viðja frá Hvolsvelli which stood at the top of her age group in the breeding show at Landsmót.

Konráð Valur Sveinsson is the youngest rider in the league. He has won multiple Icelandic championships title and two world championships title in pace. He became a world champion in 250m. pace and 100m. pace at the WC2013 in Berlin and he was also on the icelandic national team in Herning 2015. He is the Icelandic champion in PP1 in adult class and also in 250m. pace race and 100m. pace race amongst young riders. He also won the 100m. pace race at Landsmót 2016.

Lena Zielinski has worked in Iceland for many years now but she’s from Denmark. Lena lives at Efra-Hvol where she trains horses. Lena has gotten good results on the competition track and also shown many good breeding horses. Lena graduated as a trainer from Hólar

Sigurbjörn Bárðarson is one of the most well known riders in Iceland. He and Árni Björn Pálsson have won the individual competition three times, most of all riders, but Sigurbjörn won it in 2002, 2009 and 2010. Sigurbjörn is the most successful rider in Iceland and he is the only rider that has been nominated as the sportsman of the year in Iceland.
