Good horses in team Ganghestar/Margrétarhof
Reynir Örn Pálmason is the world champion in five gait combination but he was in second place in T2 and five gait on last World Championship in Herning.
Reynir is in team Ganghestar/Margrétarhof but the team is in sixth place. “The winter has been okay. Six of the horses that we had last year were sold so we had to rely on younger and less experienced horses this season. That makes it always more difficult and more unpredictable,” says Reynir but the team did a really good job at the pace tournament and before the indoor competition started they were in second place. “Gæðingafimi was not our strongest test. We were missing our best gæðingafimi rider but she was on a maternity leave. I can only blame myself for that,” says Reynir but he’s talking about Aðalheiður Anna Guðjónsdóttir but she and Reynir had a son last october. Aðalheiður placed third last year in gæðingafimi riding Spretta frá Gunnarsstöðum.
Reynir looks forward to the five gait competition but the team has been really successful both in T2 and five gait last years. “I hope after the competition on thursday we will be ranking higher amongst the teams. We haven’t taken our final practice but we will do that tonight. Þórarinn Eymundsson is driving south today so we will see his horse for the first time,” says Reynir but the team looks good. Sigurður Vignir Matthíasson is riding Gormur frá Efri-Þverá, Þórarinn riding Narri frá V-Leirárgörðum, Edda Rún Ragnarsdóttir riding Kinnskær frá Selfossi and Reynir riding Laxnes frá Lambanesi. “These are really good horses so it’s not easy to get a place on the team, even the champion from the north is not guaranteed,” says Reynir in the end a smirks.
