"One of my favourite"

Next thursday will the riders compete in gæðingafimi in the Champions league. Ísólfur Líndal Þórisson won last year riding Kristófer frá Hjaltastaðahvammi. Kristófer is 12 years old and his father is Stígandi frá Leysingjastöðum and his mother is Kosning frá Ytri-Reykjum. Ísólfur is going to compete with Kristófer again this year. “Kristófer is a really good horses for this test but I have been training him for a long time now,” says Ísólfur but gæðingafimi is one of his favourite competition. “I find this to be a create competition but this is foremost a competition in training where you try to show both how well trained your horse is and also how good he can be,” says Ísólfur and adds that he would like to see people compete more often in gæðingafimi.

Ísólfur and Kristófer had a great program last year. “To train certain exercises is a part of our daily training. Gæðingafimi is all about knowing your horse and prepare a program consisting of exercise your horse is good at. You are practically showing a really short version of a typical training, what you would do in 40 minutes in 4 minutes. What I want to show is the horse in working form and in competition form,” says Ísólfur but he thinks that preparation for gæðingafimi isn’t any more complicated than preparing for any other competition. The program that Ísólfur will show us thursday next week will be similar to the one last year. “I will switch out some of the exercise and but new ones in. I want to show an exercise called half-pass. This is an exercise that comes after shoulder out.” says Ísólfur.
